2009 Board Celebration
On Saturday November 7, the outgoing FDCA Board, the new FDCA Board and the SAM group came together for an evening of dinner and dancing. Held at the State Theatre in Sydney, the evening was one of celebration and reflection for where we have been and where we are now – both as a sector, and as Family Day Care Australia.
Former Board members were acknowledged for the tremendous commitment they have provided to the organisation and the sector, and former President Kym Groth was presented with a framed montage of the places she visited as she went around the country earlier this year to talk to members about the changes to the FDCA constitution.
General Manager Monique Webber, provided an overview of the history of Family Day Care Australia, which was followed by a hilarious segment presented by ‘Professors’ Jenny Mountney and Bev Foden, both former Presidents of FDCA. Life Member and former President, Bron Lowe, talked about the years between 2000-2005 when the governance reform agenda began; and Kym Groth highlighted the current year which culminated in the adoption of a new constitution by members at the Extraordinary General Meeting held in Hobart on 23 May 2009.
CEO Rhonda Bignell closed the evening’s proceedings with a vision for the future and how FDCA and the sector can rise to the challenges set by the National Quality Agenda by working together.
