The Board sets the strategic direction for the organisation and is the legal authority entrusted with the responsibility to ensure that the organisation is soundly governed.

Lynne Moran
Chair

Lynne has been involved in the family day care sector since her appointment as Scheme Manager of Coastal Family Day Care in 2004. She was previously employed by the Burnie City Council in the Family and Community Services section, which included the children’s services department of three long day care centres and seven outside school hours care services – giving her a broad perspective of the child care sector.

Lynne serves on the Education Minister’s Child Care Advisory Council, as well as working collaboratively with other services throughout the state. She has completed a Diploma of Community Services Management which complements a Certificate IV in Business Administration.

Peta McNellie

Peta has worked in the early childhood field since graduating with an Associate Diploma in Education (Child Care). Initially involved with community-based long day care, Peta became a family day care coordinator nine years ago and has since moved into the role of Services Manager for the Family Day Care Association Queensland.

Peta is active at both the state and national levels of family day care and has participated on consultation groups for the Early Years Learning Framework and Universal Access, as well as with the State Associations National Meeting (SAM) working party which has recently considered the model of family day care and the five year strategic plan.

Jennifer Broadbent

Jennifer became a family day care carer in 1991 and established a reputable home-based business based on integrity, strength and community wellbeing. Her experience in business management and active participation in community-based organisations, local council and carer associations and committees has added to her experience and ability to think strategically.

Jennifer has been involved in family day care at both the local and national levels and is currently a member of the Greater Shepparton Family Day Care Advisory Committee which reviews policy; problem solves and offers support to carers. She has been a member of the Victorian Home-Based Carers Association for fifteen years and has actively participated in carer working groups, the Early Years Learning Framework consultative committee, Family Day Care Australia national advisory meetings and networking opportunities with key stakeholders and other carer associations. Jennifer has tertiary qualifications in child care and is a Commonwealth authorised marriage celebrant.

Merrilyn Hannaford

Merrilyn has managed her small business as a passionate self-employed family day care carer for 23 years. She has spent three years on the current Family Day Care Australia Board and holds a Diploma in Children’s Services. She has a background in administration and experience as a secretary/treasurer to a board of management and to a political party branch.

Her active engagement with the family day care community is evidenced by her many roles including Vice-President of Careproviders of South Australia (COSA), member of the DECS/COSA Committee and COSA representative for the Children’s Services Consultative Committee as appointed by the Minister of the Department of Education and Children’s Services. Merrilyn presents business training to fellow carers and supports carers with their business concerns.

Lorraine Walker

Lorraine has a background in education and children’s services in addition to management skills and experience. She has an MA in Early Childhood Education and has taught within early childhood settings, at infants and primary school, and lectured at university and TAFE.

Lorraine is currently the General Manager of Family Child Care Services Central Coast Inc., NSW (FCCSCC). Since her appointment in January 2009, Lorraine has successfully guided the organisation through a significant period of change and has demonstrated her understanding of the important relationship between her responsibilities and delivery of the organisation’s mission and core business.

Tracy Wiggins

Tracy holds qualifications in nursing, children’s services and adult education and is an NCAC Endorsed Trainer. She has 20 years experience in the children’s services industry and has worked in centre based, mobile, school age, family day care and inclusion and professional support programs. Her experience ranges from beginning as a Cook in centre based through to her current position as Director of School Age Care and Family Day Care programs for Communities@Work.

Tracy has managed a Registered Training Organisation and is still involved in delivering training in business and children’s services. Her career began as a pharmacy assistant in a small country pharmacy. From there Tracy moved onto the local hospital and completed her Enrolled Nurses training, working in hospitals and nursing homes for two years. She also had a 10 year career in the NSW Ambulance Service as an Ambulance Officer working mostly in the Sydney regions.
