It’s winter-time again which means flu season has arrived.
Children, particularly those under 5, are especially vulnerable to influenza.
The Department of Education, Skills and Employment is asking educators and services to display influenza information in their homes and services, to promote flu-safe health and hygiene practices amongst families.

Hard-copy promotional materials on flu vaccinations (free for children from 6 months to under 5) have also been mailed to services, though you can order more copies or print their own through the Department’s website here.
From 11 July 2022, children who haven’t used care at least once in 26 weeks will no longer be eligible for CCS.
Children who haven’t attended care since 10 January 2022 will lose their eligibility from 11 July 2022. The rule will then apply on an ongoing basis.
Families can submit a new CCS claim if their child re-commences care.
What do I need to do?
Services Australia has notified impacted families so there is no need to take action.
If families at your service want more information about their eligibility or entitlement for CCS, we recommend directing them to: www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/child-care-subsidy
At the end of each financial year, Services Australia reconciles family payments, including Child Care Subsidy (CCS). This is to ensure families receive the correct amount of assistance for the year.
Families need to confirm their income after the end of the financial year for this to occur. You can help families in your care by reminding them to confirm their income.
All families must confirm their 2020–21 income before the first deadline on 30 June 2022.
If they don’t, their CCS will stop, meaning they’ll need to pay full fees.

Take part in a national study on the engagement of new mothers in team sports.
The project will focus on how mothers view themselves both physically and mentally, the social supports available to them, and the importance of community more broadly in raising children.
Educators and service staff with young children who participate in team-based or competitive sports are encouraged to take part in the survey.
